Guitar Project by Rob Hawkins

Metalwork

My dad being a skilled in woodwork and metalwork was able to show to me how to make the brass plates for my guitar as a replacement for the plastic ones that came with the  guitar. The plates will go on the back of the guitar to cover up the electrics and one smaller plate to go on the head to cove up the truss rod.

How I made the brass plates

To make the brass plates I used the plastic plates as a template, I used, metal snips, file, a metal marker, brass and brass polish. Using a sheet of brass, I marked out the outline from the plastic plate onto the brass sheet using a scratching tool, I then cut around the outline with the metal snips sticking perfectly to the line, once this was done I filed along the edge of the plate to smoothen it out, and then I used the metal hole punch to mark the hole and then a drill to drill through the brass to make the screw holes for it to be fixed into the guitar.
